The latest figures from the Local Government Association (LGA) found that hospital extractions for under 18s in England are up almost a fifth over the last four years, to 42,911 during 2016/17.

Children's Tooth Decay Reaches Crisis Point

It is now more important than ever to ensure children maintain good levels of oral care and reduce the amount of refined sugars in their diet.

This article published by Oral-B, outlines the best ways to look after your child's teeth and to combat the effects of sugar on dental health.

Furthermore, it is important children and young teens visit the dentist every 3-6 months as advised by the Department of Health to ensure any signs or decay are spotted early and minise the risk of those teeth requiring early extracion, which could lead to furhter problems in the future such as crowding.

Get in touch with your local S3 Dental practice and book your child in for an in-depth check up, where your dentist will also spend time to give detailed oral hygiene advice and answer any questions you may have.
